Making A Successful Move With Kids

by Erin Mitchell

Moving can be a stressful experience. Throw some kids in the mix and your stress level can fly off the chart. Trying to pack boxes, get organized, and haul stuff from one location to the next can be more difficult when you are stepping around kids. If you can't leave them with their grandparents while you get moved, you need to get creative. This means finding a place for your children to get involved and making the best of the experience. Children can feel the anxiety you have during the move. You want to make it a pleasant thing that they will be excited about. Here are some ways to make the move successful with kids.

Get Your Children Involved

Children aren't just free labor. When all their toys and stuff is getting packed up, you are bound to hear that they are bored at some point. In order to avoid this, you want to give them certain tasks to do. This could be packing up their toys or sorting items into the right box. You could also give them a checklist and pretend to have a scavenger hunt. This will help you identify where everything is so you can start labeling the boxes.

Ask for Help

Moving is a big life change for anyone. When you have kids tagging along on the move, the process can be even more emotional. It is important to ask for help during this time. Whether it is help packing, moving, or babysitting, this is a time when most family and friends will help you out. Most grandparents would be happy to come over and play with the kids while you spend a couple hours packing. You will be able to get much more done during this time without the distraction of the kids. It also allows your kids a break from the moving.

Have a Moving Sale

Kids have a much harder time getting rid of stuff than adults do. You don't want to take stuff that is no longer being used with you. One way to help get your kids to get rid of some of the items they no longer use is to have a moving sale. This can help rid your home of some of the needless items you still have and save time from having to pack it up and move it. Explain how this can help them earn money for stuff they enjoy at the new house. Being able to make money can be just the motivation they need to get rid of stuff they no longer use.

About Me

A New Business Venture

For the past several years, my friend worked as a waitress at a local restaurant. Although she enjoyed her job, she started to want to do something different with her life. After some research, she decided to start a new business. She began purchasing storage units. After buying them, she inspects the inventory in them. She then sells the inventory on the internet. So far, she’s enjoying her new career as an entrepreneur. She’s always amazed at the type of items she finds in the storage units she buys. On this blog, you will discover how to start a new business venture by selling inventory found in purchased storage units.
