3 Reasons To Consider Using An Outdoor Storage Facility

by Erin Mitchell

Storage facilities are very versatile businesses, with the two main types being outdoor and indoor storage facilities. Indoor facilities typically have all of the units located within a single building, while outdoor facilities usually have multiple smaller buildings located within a fenced-in lot. The large number of options, security, and convenience are all great reasons to rent from an outdoor storage facility.

Security

Outdoor facilities are usually quite secure, and typically include everything from around-the-clock surveillance to onsite security guards. In addition, many of the outdoor storage facilities will have a security gate installed that can only be opened with unique security codes that are provided to customers as soon as they rent a unit. This makes it much more difficult for an intruder to get into the facility and break into your unit.

However, you will need to be a bit careful when you rent from an outdoor facility, because there are some very cheap options out there that really skimp on the security. While not common, some of the cheap units will forego security cameras, personnel, and gates in order to lower the price as much as possible. While the price can be attractive, it is not worth putting your possessions at risk when there are a plethora of highly secure outdoor storage facilities available.

Convenience

An outdoor storage facility is a great choice if you want the convenience of being able to access your property whenever you want. Most outdoor storage facilities will allow you to access your unit at any hour, as long as you have the codes to get past the security gate. This is a big advantage over indoor facilities that will only let you access the unit during the hours they set.

In addition, an outdoor storage unit is easily accessible. In most cases, you can drive your vehicle directly to the door of your unit. This is great because it makes unloading and loading your possessions extremely easy.

Options

Finally, outdoor storage facilities are ideal if you want the greatest number of unit options. In an outdoor facility, you can easily rent units that can accommodate one or two rooms' worth of furniture or other possessions, or you can rent a unit that can hold large vehicles, such as RVs and boats. This is a great way to keep your classic or recreational vehicles safe if your garage at home is full, or if your home does not have a garage at all.
